Kia ora everyone...
November 10 is a BIG DAY in our family, which means its a big day for the band. Honey (Harete Whariki Kake Wahine) her full first and middle names is having her moko kauae done in Whakatane.
The tohunga tamoko is a whanaunga to Bev, (Bro Truce) and is a very close friend of us all, and you can see his picture on our album booklet too, he is Katz Maihi, awesome brother, we have so much love and respect for this gracious outrageously awesome and humble man.
He also did my sister’s kauae (Waylyn) and my brother in law, (Anthony’s) kanohi (face) there is a picture of us here below along with Tame Iti.
We are just like you, a part of a family and NRG is about keeping things as real as we can, and staying grounded and guided by our values and beliefs, so we wanted to share this with you all, this is a short video of Honey speaking about getting her kauae done in just 5 days now.... we will keep you all updated and of course on the day.
Much love to all, love light and NRG
Click here to hear Honey speaks about getting her kauae (traditional chin tattoo) done in just 5 more days!

Kia ora family, fans, friends and each and everyone that provides the positive NRG that is creating the undeniable journey ahead for us .... NRG Rising is the evidence of the power of faith hope and belief!
We sit here in the early evening and consider what we couldn’t really even perceive, we are off to USA, New Mexico, none of the band at this time even has a passport, a couple have been to Australia a few years ago, but passports are now expired... so with the invitation for NRG Rising to attend and perform in the prestigious Gathering of the Nations New Mexico in April 2012, the news is somewhat hard to imagine or even believe for us all yet… only 36 months ago the band was born.
We had a dream, we worked hard, massively focused and made many sacrifices and with the support of family, friends and you, our staunch supporters, we now have our first international gig. Thank you all, each and everyone one of you, all the positive energy and thoughts all really do count towards the way in which the future plays out in reality.
Well, I am sure we are all in for a huge culture shock of epic portions, and that our freshie, a little naive, and querky positive outlook on life, intense belief that our gift is a gift from the Creator, stand us in good stead for the upcoming few years, because we all know that this is just the beginning!!!!!!!!! Bring on the rollar coaster of life, we have our seat belts fastened, our hearts in the hands of the almighty, and we know we are following in the footsteps of the other inspirational Aotearoa Reggae greats who first attended the GON in 2006, Katchafire. Blessings always to our brothers and their beautiful, patient, stunning and all loving partners and wifes! Without you holding down the fort, looking after the homefires, they would not hve been able to do so well. You are amazing sistahs, Thank you all for the inspiration.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Nelson Mandela

Hi all
Woah.... what an amazing 5 days in the Revolver Studio, Waiuku, New Zealand, an amazing journey full of emotional ups and downs, not too many diva moments.... hahaha.... just intense personal challenges... breaking through self limiting beliefs and extreme highs with feelings of deep humility
The recording process has really helped to shape and grow us all as people and as a band. We are so grateful to our audio engineer who managed to bring out the best in each and everyone of us with a pleasnat smile and words of encouragement and wisdom and always with a sound rational as to why things were... you really are a star Jason thankyou!
So, we nearly have an album and we still can barely believe we are right in it, the feeling at the end while listening to our songs being played back was quite sereal and just an aweome moment in time to be capture in our hearts and minds. As I was listening and seeing our band standing as one at that moment I was thinking about each and every person who has played an part in this journey....
Shaun Mortensen aka 2 Roads, our first drummer, then there is Jason Davis aka Jay the Pest, who played guitar with us for over a year, part of him is in our music, and when i hear our music all the good times we had along with our close friends and family is a little overwhelming... Thanks Jay fa Pest and to Mere and the kids.. we can't wait to come over to Aussie and catch up with you all, the mojo sounds cool brother but we coule never do it quite like you... and all the other mean feels and sound you helped create.... arohanui
And oh my goodness our sound man... Terry Hill.... he is a legend.... he will be a part of NRG Rising for ever.... he just is.... we love him to bits.... he is the man, yes we will have others work with us, and Terry will always be a part of NRG Rising too.. yiiiahhh
All the local staunch Waikato musos and bands... man you are all so inspiring, we are grateful to be part of this awesome vibrant community... Native Sons, the cuzzies Brian and Naomi from Cornerstone Roots, Bruthers of Fire wow, Jamey, thanks to you and Missy for keeping us zane..... sis much love...Katchafire you have paved the way for all of us.... Zion Hill, Knights of the Dub Table, Tasty Brown.... dam... I am going to have to keep coming back and adding to the list... its just too late and I cant think.... rght now
There were so many others that I just wouldn't have enough room to mention you all, but we love and appreciate you all, and even though we may or may not see you all as much we are always talking about you and the many fun times we had and will continue to have when we can see you again.
Family wow, what can we say, our families have believed in us nad helped us to stay on track, we missed so much because we are and have been so focused...thanks you fams...
The DREAM TEAM check them out on Facebook and awesome community led by Phil he suports promotes indie music from all around the world, during our time on Sellaband where we raised the funds to record the album The Dream Team supported in many ways and still does...... amazing, thankyou Dream Team,
Wolf Pack NRG rising is also a part of the WolfPack led Wolfie of course... once again another passionate person supporting indie music from around the world aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhooooooooooo!!!!!
Wow... you know.. we do know how many hearty FB friends and fans we have... thankyou for you comments... your likes we do notice, there is a strong few of you and if we dont get to comment you back personally just know that we know see and feel you out there where ever in the world you are.... THANKS HEAPS!
Ok I am going to stop now or I will get emotional... hahaahaa

Kia ora everyone
Ok so its midnight Thursday night and we are chilling back now, we have set up and happy with the sound, and getting comfy in our recording holiday abode for the next 5 days.
We have recorded the music for 3 of our songs and are happy with progress.... so, for those of you like me and do not really know the go in the studio, this is a quick run down of what happened and how we recorded.
First: all the sound was set up and the engineer Jason... made sure that he was happy and we were happy with each sound of all the instruments.
Then: We planned how we would record
After this: We basically started to record. While the music is being recorded we do what you call some, GUIDE VOCALS in other words sing along with the music so that the boys when recording can feel and get the groove of the song and also use the voacls as a guide to know where we are in the song... after a few takes of the whole song,
Next: we sit and listen to a play back... basically we talk about oif there are parts we are not satisfied with or want to redo. We are basicaly taking recordings of the whole song where and when possible so that its keeps a live and flowing sound, this means a few takes but not too many.. so we handled pretty well I reakon.... Awesome NRG
There is a short clip of us listening to a playback of one of our songs with guide vocals.. so the vocals are not being recorded..... hahaha had to put that in, just in case you think they are the real one.... yea nah... but we will try and keep you updated as we go through this special occassion for us, our first album... Enjoy and stay close we love having you along, and especially enjoy your feedback, thanks to all of you who are commenting and supoprting us along the way... thats just MEAN awesome MEAN
Much love another post coming your way soon...... at least inthe next day or so...
Yiiiahhhhhh...... it was just a dream, then a possibility and now its reality!
Hard to believe sometimes....
Thankyou
